The College of Arts and Sciences offers funding to encourage students to engage in independent inquiry, artistic creation, and scholarship under faculty supervision. These grants are intended to enhance opportunities for undergraduate research in the college. Travel, research supplies, and other valid expenses may be reimbursed up to the limit of an individual grant. Grants will normally fall into a range from $100 to $1,500, and, if possible, should be combined with funding from other sources (i.e., from faculty advisors, department chairs, center directors, etc). Research should be completedof receipt of the award. The grant recipient will then submit a brief report on the results of the project to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs. Previous recipients of the grant will not be considered for additional funds to the limited nature of this grant.
These grants are designed to increase undergraduate research and creative inquiry in our college. Students in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences are encouraged to apply. Unfortunately, since award support is limited, students who have received grant support from CAS in prior competitions are ineligible for subsequent awards. Grant applications require a faculty advisor's support and endorsement, so an early step should be a discussion with a faculty member with whom you might wish to work.
